frozen whiskers
The little creek by the gardens is freezing over. Skippy loves to drink the icy water. He ends up with icicles hanging from his whiskers that stay there for the rest of our walk.

Skippy
I haven't been taking many photos of Skippy this summer. I don't know why - he's as cute as ever. And always very good company. Here are a few photos from the past month. A bit of salt water, a bit of fresh water. And lots of gardening.

skippy
Skippy and I spent the afternoon at my community garden plot today. After a bit of weeding and setting up my tomato tent, the skies got really dark. I have a big umbrella stashed under the lilac bush and we hunkered down under it. Turns out the old umbrella has developed a few holes. We stayed mostly dry as the skies opened up. Thunder and giant rain drops for about half an hour. Skippy moved around to avoid the drips and we stayed pretty dry. I amused myself taking photos of rain drops and mud.

skippy - the day before the haircut
Tomorrow is his haircut day. I'll see if I can get an "after" photo, too.

merry christmas
Skippy started Christmas morning calm and good. Posed for a few photos. Then he found a small package that smelled like lamb bones and one that squeaked. :-))) He tore them open. Then he helped everyone else open their packages. But the most fun was next - he put his new squeaky toy inside the bag of torn wrapping paper that we had picked up and he "dug" down strewing paper all around the room until he found his toy at the bottom. This was fun about 10 times. Then the kids took him out to run. Now he's tired and will nap the rest of the day, or at least until the grill get fired up.

my buddy....
Skippy didn't really want to pose for this photos, but he did. Such a good pup...
Skippy is 6 years old now. 42 in dog years. He's still running in the fall leaves like a puppy. I think he's looking forward to winter chill. He likes the cold and rolling in the snow. He'll sleep out on the snow when he can.... At least one of us is looking forward.

Skippy's shady spot
My husband made Skippy a shady spot to hang out in. I call it his "crate". He loves it. Its the only spot in my garden where he is allowed to dig. He digs out a nice cool hollow in the damp earth and lies down in the shade on a hot sunny day. And I can sit next to him and use the top as a table. Not too bad.....

Skippy
Here's my handsome Skippy. He's nearly 6 years old now. Very dapper in his new haircut and still one of the fastest dogs around.

this is our backyard
Our backyard is buried under snow. Yesterday Channel 5 said, "Boston has had a colossal 70 inches of snow!" Don't we know it.
Skippy gets to run around in series of paths we have dug. The 5 foot fence is now standing only a foot or two above the snowdrifts. The snow is glazed with a layer of ice, but still loose underneath, so we can't walk on it. What a winter!
